She had
lived a life where she felt everything was possible.
Marrying
him and having their children, was neither a scary thought nor an impossible
one. She saw a loving future when looking into his eyes. She saw happiness, a
little boy and girl crawling into his lap while he read them stories that he
himself had heard when he was a kid. His loving embrace as he put the kids to
sleep and kissed them on the forehead, telling them that they should never stop
dreaming and that he loved them with every ounce of his heart. The wonderful
sparkle that his eyes possessed as she would lie next to him and he told her
how much he loved her. Those were the only things that raced through her mind,
she had found her rock. She finally understood the silly love songs she would
blast in her teenage room while dreaming of meeting Mr. Right. He had come to
her… At least that is what she had thought for so long. She had felt so safe,
so secure in their love, but it would prove to be just a silly fantasy. Exactly
like the idiotic love songs she would listen to. It was all a wonderful and
intricate dream, the reality however, was painful.
There was
no room for her in his heart.
They had
fought about HER many times, a certain girl that she had always felt had too
big of a place in their daily lives. Someone whom he worked with, that he said
he’d comforted on numerous occasions because a lot of things were happening in
her life and she didn't really have
anybody. He was just being a “good” friend, and she believed him with all her
heart.
The day she
found out the truth, was absolute and excruciating pain. An
incoming text at the worst possible time, “Hey babe, when are you coming to
visit me again?” – Again, the words
rang in her head like a bell on top of a church. Painfully so, it would ring
with such a force that her breath left her chest completely. She was gasping
for air when she realized that she had lost him, lost her future in that very
second.
She looked
at him as she was packing her bags, ready to leave for good. Leave years of
companionship behind, knowing that it was all a lie.
“I guess I
wanted you more…than you wanted me.”
